This WFNP episode has a more thorough and in-depth explanation of the various production processes and insight into what goes into an “intentionally made” rosé as opposed to one that’s an “afterthought.”  There’s also some geeky coverage of malolactic conversion, use of native yeasts and ageability of rosé.

GuildSomm: Rosé and Orange Wines

Interview with rosé expert Elizabeth Gabay (gets going at the 6 minute mark) about what she considers “the most exciting sector of the wine market.”  While there’s some discussion of varieties used and methods of production – the focus here is more on marketing and the future of rosé.  Questions addressed include: How much does the color of rosé impact purchasing decisions for average consumers? How will climate change affect major rosé producing regions like Provence?  And - is there any correlation between color and quality in rosé? (spoiler alert: her answer is a resounding NO)

Highly recommended for those wanting to gain a better understanding of marketing rosé and what the future may hold for this category.

Another interview with Elizabeth Gabay (we cannot get enough of her – especially when it comes to this subject!)  This episode discusses how Provence became a market leader for rosé – including a fascinating review of how some appellations banded together to form a united marketing front for Provence rosé.  Not much in the way of technical bits, but a great overview of a region that has done incredibly well at marketing themselves and their wines.
